RGS WELCOMES YOU !!

Rockton Grade School currently has 453 students in our kindergarten through second grade classes.  We also have 33 students in our pre-kindergarten At-Risk Program and Early Childhood special education classes.  We are fortunate to have available a variety of learning opportunities for our students, including a Title I reading program, an enrichment program offered by our school library teacher, special education services, and after-school art and music enrichment programs for first and second graders each semester. In addition to these opportunities, our PTO offers after school programs for Young Rembrandts and Mad Science.   We also have a school psychologist and social worker who are available to help both teachers and students when needed.

Rockton Grade School Mission Statement:

Rockton Grade School provides a caring, nurturing, and safe environment.  We are a learning community working together with parents to serve the social, emotional, and educational needs of all our children.

In keeping with our mission, we welcome parents to participate in school activities and to be involved in their children’s education.  We strive to keep the lines of communication open between teachers, administrators and parents with weekly classroom newsletters, monthly school newsletters, e-mail, voice mail, and fall and spring parent-teacher conferences.  We are especially proud of our character program, which has been developed by our school social worker and a team of teachers.  We focus on one character trait each month, and this trait is reinforced with classroom lessons, monthly assemblies, and a character pledge each morning.  Educationally, our students are fortunate to be served by an extremely talented and dedicated staff who collaborate with one another to hone their skills and build the best possible learning environment for our students.

Our teachers meet on a regular basis to look at student assessment results and make decisions about instructional interventions that students may need in order to help them achieve to their maximum potential.  These groups of teachers set grade-level goals for achievement each year, and these goals are the heart of our annual School Improvement Plan.
