Meningococcal disease and vaccination information

Illinois Department of Public Health has the following requirements for the meningococcal vaccine: For 6th-grade entry - the first dose must be received on or after the 11th birthday. 12th-grade entry - the second dose is required on or after the 16th birthday. Only one dose is required if received on or after the age of 16. Be sure to communicate with your child's doctor about the need to receive the meningococcal conjugate or MenACWY vaccines to meet this requirement, not the MenB vaccine. MenB is recommended for students entering college.
