Board Members
Carson considers it an honor to serve the community as a Rockton District 140
school board member. Carson and his wife Heather share a home in Rockton with
their blended family of five children. The oldest is an elementary education teacher,
and he is very proud of the education that Rockton 140 district has afforded his
family. The two youngest children are still in attendance at Whitman Post and
Stephen Mack middle school.
Carson originally grew up in Rockford and moved to Rockton 20 years ago after
graduating from Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s in business
management. He spent more than 20 years in manufacturing, where he excelled in
team leadership and management. Carson has engaged in the family tradition of
real estate and is currently a Realtor with Gambino Realtors. Additionally, he owns
his own business, with a strong focus on property management. Carson has
received a great deal of personal satisfaction in collaborative management roles
over the past 25 years, which he plans to bring to the school board position.
Carson’s philosophy centers around providing a good education framework for our
young and a legacy that will embrace our community long term. He believes in
conducting himself in a transparent and accountable manner to work
collaboratively for our community, school staff, and all stakeholders alike. Education
and community involvement have always been a focus for his family. He looks
forward to working as a dedicated, thoughtful member of the Rockton 140 school
board to help maintain the excellent schools we have and discover ways to make
them even better for the short-term but, more importantly, the long-term health of
the community.
Kelsey is honored to serve on the Rockton School District Board of Education. The Lueshen’s moved to Rockton in 2009. Kelsey and his wife, Laura, have been married since 2006 and they have two lovely sons, Charlie and Henry. Laura has been a teacher in the Rockton School district since 2004 and Charlie is currently in 3rd grade at Whitman Post. Henry is excited to start Kindergarten at RGS soon. Kesley is excited to work with all stakeholders in Rockton to continue and build the amazing quality of the schools in this area.
Kelsey is no stranger to education. Not only is his wife a teacher, but he is also a teacher at Harlem High School. Kelsey grew up in and around the Rockford area. He pursued education and is happy to be doing what he truly loves. He currently teaches English at Harlem High School and also coaches the Cross Country team in the fall.
Kelsey has always wanted to give back to the community he calls home. As a member of the school board, he gets that opportunity. Through the school board, he can work to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential. Kelsey is passionate about education and the impact it can have on an individual’s life. In this role, he can champion this cause for every child in the district. He is excited to work with Glenn Terry and all the members of the school board to continue the excellent educational opportunities in Rockton.
Scott Robinson believes in the power of education to help children develop their full human potential, and takes seriously the responsibility of being a partner in the stewardship of District 140 for the benefit of our community’s children, families, and taxpayers. He and his family moved to Rockton in 2010, and were drawn here, like many families, because of the reputation of Rockton’s schools. The quality of education that his three children have received in the district has indeed been excellent due to the hard work and dedication of our district’s teachers, support staff, administrators, and school board, as well as the support of the community. It has been especially amazing to witness the success of our district in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. As a member of the Rockton 140 Board of Education, Scott wants to help continue this tradition of excellence by always putting the best interests of our children first, while also respecting the obligation to provide value for the tax dollars that fund our schools.
Scott is an attorney for a national law firm, and also a former English teacher at Hononegah High School. He was admitted to the bar in 2003, and taught at Hononegah from 2011-2019. He also has significant training and experience in educational technology. His wife, Becky, teaches Photography, Web Design, Video, and Graphic Design at Hononegah. They have three children in District 140: two sons in 8th and 6th grades, and a daughter in kindergarten. Scott knows first hand what a difficult, yet rewarding, job it is to teach kids, and has the highest regard for great teachers and their craft. He is looking forward to using his knowledge and experience to serve the residents of our school district, and promises to work hard to maintain the educational quality they have come to expect from District 140.
Trisha is a newer resident to Rockton, IL but is no stranger to the Rockton School District. Relocating to the area in 2021, Trisha & her family had always planned to raise their child within the Rockton community. Trisha’s wife Lisa has been a teacher within the district for 20+ years. After welcoming their daughter in 2016, there was never a question where she would receive her education.
Growing up in a small town in Cresson, PA; Trisha loved the idea of raising a family in a community where she could be very active in the hopes of making a difference. After moving to Rockton, it was important to Trisha to find a way to be involved. With her wife teaching in the district her entire career, she knew everyone, and everyone knew her. Trisha had a goal to find her own path to connect with the community, the teachers & staff along with the administration.
Serving as a board member of the Rockton School District is an honor. The district carries a strong reputation providing children a wonderful, safe place to receive their education. I am proud to be a part of this district and strive to continue building on its success. Trisha recalls her father serving on her school board through her middle school and high school years and is happy to be following in his footsteps.
Trisha is the Vice President of Licensed Sports at G&G Outfitters, a company located in Lanham, MD. Working in sales, her job demands a lot of her time traveling each month. She prioritizes being a mom and an active part of all school activities. Trisha and Lisa are involved room parents to their daughter Addison’s class each year and volunteer at school activities whenever needed. Her passion is spending time with her family making memories through adventure and experiences.
Brendan Caver understands that our community school districts are the region’s educational crown jewel and recognizes that each of the board’s decisions has immediate-, medium- and long-term implications. His goal is to promote board action that maintains and improves effectiveness, consistency, and predictability among the district’s student body and its devoted staff, educators, and administrators. Having moved to Rockton in 2013, Mr. and Mrs. Caver have committed their time as parents at all three schools assisting students both in and out of the classroom socially, emotionally, athletically, and educationally. In addition to raising their family, they have also practiced law in the area for over 18 years.
The Cavers currently have a WPES third-grader, a SMMS sixth-grader, and also helped successfully graduate two current Hononegah students from Kindergarten through eighth grade in the district. They are proud to have assisted all of their childrens’ teachers in and out of the classroom while supporting the district’s other talented and caring teams of educators. Brendan is proud to enjoy the privilege of serving the board and our district by taking prudent action while encouraging sustainable strategic planning to ensure that current and future classes of students benefit from the same superior educations that he has seen successfully prepare his own children and their classmates for Hononegah and beyond.
Derek and his wife moved to Rockton in 2021 because of the reputation of the school district. Derek’s wife Laura has been teaching in the district for about ten years and their oldest son recently finished Kindergarten. As parents the Erwin’s were thrilled with their son's first year in school and loved sharing in his excitement at the end of each day. Derek is excited to be a part of the school board to help continue the strong reputation of the district.
Derek is proud to be a third generation Financial Advisor, carrying on a tradition that started with his grandfather, Virgil Smith, in 1957. Derek began working with his uncle, Marty Smith, in 2006 after graduating from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in business economics.
Over the last few years Derek has had the opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity, Rockford Food pantry, and Stroll on State in volunteer roles. He spent a few years on the board of Ignite which is the young professional branch of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. Derek’s passion has always been working with kids, and since he claims to not have the skill set to teach children, he considers himself lucky enough to coach a lot of youth sport teams. YMCA, Harlem Community Center, and Art Sadtler basketball, Boys & Girls Club, Roy Gayle, Stateline baseball, Bruce Samlan and Raptors Soccer.
David is excited to serve the Rockton community and to work for such dedicated and talented students and staff. District 140 is the reason he and his family moved to Rockton and he considers serving on the school board an honor.
David and his wife, Hilaree, have two kids who both attend Rockton schools. Hilaree is a Registered Nurse and the Librarian at the OSF College of Nursing. David has worked in education, entering his eighteenth year overall and first year as principal of Durand JH/HS. Before that, he was an assistant principal at Hononegah for eight years. His career began in 2007 at Putnam County Junior High, teaching until he became an administrator in 2015. He directed the choir and band and taught social studies.
David believes in public education and the lasting impact an educator can have on a child’s life. For those reasons, he is dedicated to helping build on the legacy of Rockton 140 and serving the wonderful community of students, teachers, staff, and families.
